Title: Structures and Properties of Lanthanides and Bismuth Coordination Polymers
Abstract:
New materials always attract the attention of chemists, especially when nowadays energy is increasingly scarce and environmental pollution is getting worse. Herein, some series of lanthanide coordination polymers and bismuth coordination polymers were reported on their structures and functionality. All compounds were prepared via hydrothermal methods. The structures were elucidated via X-ray diffraction technique. The compositions and morphologies were also characterized.
The reported lanthanides coordination polymers includes the following series:
1) Ln-hedp1. This system possess reversible phase transition upon heating due to reversible loss and acquisition of coordination water molecules. Another interesting property is that this series of rare earth compounds can reversibly obtain and lose sodium ions by appropriate hydrothermal treatment, so that the crystal structure undergoes mutual conversion from a three-dimensional structure to a two-dimensional one.
2) Ln-hedp2. This system belong to a porous cubic chiral structure. The water molecules can be exchanged with methanol under room temperature upon magnetic starring. Another amazing property is that this structure is highly stable up to 700 oC in air even though hedp organic ligand decomposed after 400 oC.
3) Bi-based complexes. Three coordination polymers containing of CuBi, CoBi and MnBi were synthesized and their structures were different. The compounds and their derivatives having unique photocatalytic performance showed that within 10 minutes almost 100% degradation of RhB in aqueous solution was achieved under visible light irradiation and the photocatalysts were reusable with high stability.
